At Salisbury Manor, we believe that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Anyone who interacts with children and their families or caregivers plays a role in keeping them safe. All professionals should adopt a child-centered approach, always considering the best interests of the child. Any concerns must be logged and reported to the appropriate safeguarding lead without delay. Parents are encouraged to speak with any member of our team or the designated safeguarding leads listed below.
Safeguarding and child protection involves protecting children from abuse, preventing harm to their health or development, ensuring they receive safe and effective care, and helping them achieve their full potential as they enter adulthood.
All staff at Salisbury Manor receive training and regular refresher courses to remain vigilant in protecting our children and young people. We are committed to safeguarding their welfare and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any concerns are reported to our trained Designated Safeguarding Leads.
We believe in the importance of early intervention and strive to identify and address any concerns or difficulties as soon as possible. Our Safeguarding & Welfare Lead is always available to provide support and advice to families and parents or caregivers while keeping the best interests of the student in mind. We work closely with outside agencies to ensure that students and families receive the support they need.
Staff members are encouraged to report any concerns to the School Safeguarding Team. We make every effort to share these concerns with parents as early as possible, as there are often reasonable explanations. Concerns may range from a child appearing visibly upset to a student disclosing sensitive information. If a disclosure is of a more serious nature, the Safeguarding Team has a duty of care to inform the London Borough of Waltham Forest Children’s Services.
If you have any concerns about the safety or well-being of your child or any other child or young person, please do not hesitate to contact a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
