INCLUSION

Inclusion is about meeting the needs of all children, including those with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, emotional and behavioral challenges, and those for whom English is an additional language. Our goal is to provide all students with full access to a broad, balanced, rich, and relevant curriculum so that they can reach their full potential.

We invest in the induction, training, development, and support of our staff to ensure that they can provide quality first teaching for all students. We use differentiated tasks to challenge and promote progress for all students and incorporate cooperative learning structures in all classes to encourage peer support between students with differing abilities.

If quality first teaching alone is not enough, we will do whatever it takes to ensure that every student receives the support they need. This may include providing interventions for individuals or small groups in addition to high-quality whole-class teaching.

We strive to foster a partnership between parents, students, and staff to determine the best way to meet each student's needs. We seek external advice when necessary through local support services and our network of other schools.

Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

Our policies page includes our Equality policy and our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) policy. You can also read about our SEND provision below.

Providing for Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) is a key part of a successful inclusive school. We have a shared expectation that all students, regardless of their specific needs, should receive inclusive quality teaching that enables them to make the best possible progress and feel valued as members of the school community.

The school may offer a range of support for students with communication and interaction difficulties, cognitive and learning challenges, social, mental health or sensory and physical needs. Details of available support and related processes can be found in the Salisbury Manor SEND Information Report (local offer) on our policies page. Additional services may also be accessed via the Waltham Forest Local Offer through the Family Information Services.

Our Special Education Needs Policy (available on our policies page) promotes independent and resilient learners and should not be viewed in isolation.

If you would like to discuss your child's needs or provisions, please speak with their class teacher or contact Sonia James or Amy Rawlinson. Sonia is the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), while Amy Rawlinson is the Inclusion Lead who supports the SENCO.
